Thanks to a partnership between FDA Architects and the start-up Urban Therapy, Europe’s biggest vertical garden has been set up in the Spanish city of Santander. It is located in a disused tobacco factory, which was converted into a civic centre. The vertical garden has over 22,000 individual plants and 560 square metres of greenery. A glass atrium makes sure that the plants get enough light and there are automatic LED lights for greyer days. An automated system regulates the water input and the right temperatures. What’s more, the water required is recycled and reused.
