GENERATING SOLAR ENERGY BY UPCYCLING BIO-WASTE

Carvey Ehren Maigue, a scientist at Mapua University in the Philippines has developed solar panels that can produce energy even without direct sunlight. The concept is based on luminescent particles from fruit and vegetable waste that is integrated into the glass.

The particles can convert UV light that passes through thick clouds and thereby represents a continuous source of energy into visible light. This light is then converted into energy at the corners of the individual panels. The windows could be fully implemented when constructing new buildings, turning them into vertical solar farms.
