SUSTAINABLE SHOE MADE FROM DOG HAIR AND MUSHROOMS

The designer Emilie Burfeind has created the “Sneature” sock shoe which is made from dog hair and mushrooms. The production uses dog hair was spun by Berlin-based start-up Modus Intarsia into high-quality “Chiengora”. This sustainable resource is then used in a 3D knitting process to make a shoe, while a mycelium is mixed with a cellulose-based material to serve as the sole. The whole shoe is biodegradable, whereby the fibres of the knitted upper material can be removed and spun into new yarn.
