TRACKING THE CORONAVIRUS BY APP
COVID-19 is spreading across the globe rapidly and invisible for our eyes. But the open source app Private Kit: Safe Paths can help us track the virus down.
People from Harvard and the MIT as well as engineers at companies such as Facebook and Uber, developed an app that helps tracking down corona-hotspots by sharing encrypted location data between users. People who tested positive on COVID-19 can share their locations without others knowing their identity. This lets other users know if they may have crossed paths with someone carrying the virus and helps them take appropriate measures. There is also an option to share your location data with health officials, if you are tested positive. If enough people use Private Kit: Safe Paths, it could make a difference in containing coronavirus.
